Oakden Drive
A fictional Miniseries based on the grotesque history of the Children of God religious cult...
Black List Thoughts:
"The script for OAKDEN DRIVE has a very intriguing premise -- there’s a certain amount of mystery and menace that the “what if” promises, and the scene laid out in the beginning do a solid job of conveying this atmosphere. One of the things that stand out is the details used by the author to create an air of danger throughout -- from the couple on the train to the traumatic visions John experiences -- all of these compound to really ingrain in the audience the cult experience (especially for the children). The choice of subject matter is admirable; other cults have been depicted on screen, but this is one that has, for whatever reason, not yet been captured in television or film. It’s also a good choice because it allows for a number of different stories to be told -- with a group this large, many threads can be woven in the larger narrative. "
"There’s a great deal of promise in the subject matter, which is a rich area from which to mine topical, engaging stories."
Logline:
John's mental state is deteriorating while his notoriety as an up and coming novelist is growing when he meets a free-spirited real estate agent who shows him a mansion in the hills with a much darker past than meets the eye... or is it all in John's head?

NOTES
Based on the exposed malicious acts of the Children of God cult, Oakden Drive follows a fictional premise related to the very REAL child suicides spurred on by the molestation and rape of young men and women at the hands of these vile humans. 1821 Oakden drive was a known commune to the cult and a favorite of their spiritual leader, and exposed child molester, David Berg.
